Restaurants and Bars

The apartment is conveniently located near a number of restaurants and bars, many of which are less than a 5-minute walk from the apartment. Here is a selection that we recommend. We only list those we have personally used. During the festivals it is advisable to book early to avoid disappointment.

Restaurants

Santiago – A popular Spanish venue that specializes in authentic Spanish tapas. A great place for sharing food with friends and also has a bar area for those who just fancy a drink.

San Pedro – Part of the local Santiago restaurant, this venue specializes in larger Spanish dishes and also has a smart cocktail bar. On Sundays they have a menu that includes a Sunday roast.

Brasserie De La Cour – A popular French restaurant with an adjoining bar. There is also an outside seating area for those sunny days. Under French ownership, there is a standard menu with a rotating list of specials.

St Moritz – The food is focused on Italian/Swiss options with a good range of pasta and pizza options. A firm favorite with locals.

Simply Thai – This Thai-run restaurant has been operating since 2004, offering a range of dishes from across Thailand.

Chakra Lounge – Whether you want a Chai Latte or something more substantial, this locally run business offers breakfast, brunch, lunch, or an evening meal with an Indian twist. They also have another branch called Noonology in high town that is popular for breakfast and lunch.

Lubens – This is a local bar that is also popular with locals for the food it serves from a standard menu and specials board. It gets busy so worth booking ahead.

Cavendish Kitchen – This is a takeaway and worth mentioning that you can order from Seasons Bar if you need somewhere to sit in and enjoy their Pizzas. As well as their Pizzas being great, they make fresh dough each day so when they are gone they are gone.

Good breakfast and lunch options can also be found at the Greenpavilion and the Arcade Deli.

There is one good Vegan venue for breakfast and lunch and this is at the Herb Garden.

Bars

There are a lot of bars and pubs in Buxton and too many to list them all so these are just a couple that we use that are close to the apartment.

Seasons Bar – A small friendly bar selling craft ales and wine. A place where it’s easy to get chatting with the owners or some of the locals.

Red Willow – Run by the Redwillow brewery company based in Macclesfield, there are a range of beers and a laid-back environment.

The Queens Hotel – This pub based on the market place gets a mention as it is the most likely to be showing sport and also hosts live bands on Friday and Saturday Night. The venues showing sport are the Kings Head (marketplace) and the Old Club House (next to the opera house) although they tend to only show one game at a time.
